Sixth season in the works for vampire drama 'True Blood'

That appears to be the word from co-star Todd Lowe who revealed the news during a recent interview for celebuzz.com. HBO's hit vampire drama, which stars a pregnant Anna Paquin and her husband Stephen Moyer, returns Sunday for the launch of its fifth season on cable 300. The latest news came when Lowe, 35, who plays Terry Bellefleur, was asked how the producers are dealing with the actress' growing baby bump. "I think she is due right before we start (filming) the sixth season," said Lowe, according to the website. Since the show is not incorporating Paquin's pregnancy into its scripts, the production company has had a stunt double working overtime to hide the 29-year-old actress expanding waistline. "I know that her stunt double has had more work than needed before," said Lowe in the interview. "I know that and they're pretty creative with staging and costuming." Working her pregnancy into the script was not a consideration, Lowe said. "It would be hard because of the timeline," he told the website. "The timeline is crunched, you know." Last winter, creator/writer Alan Ball told the media that if the series was picked up for a sixth season, he would continue with it in a supervisory role. HBO confirmed then that if it "proceed(ed) to season six, the show will remain in the very capable hands of the talented team of writers and producers who have been with the show for a number of years." The cable channel has not commented on a sixth season of the series. Lowe, like the other actors on the show, would not reveal any details of the upcoming season except to say that his character isn't being written out. In last seasons cliffhanger finale, Sookie Stackhouse (Paquin) made an important decision about her love life and another character was shot in the town of Bon Temps, La. "People really like the story telling and the cliff hangers seem to help a lot," Lowe told the website. He plays a Iraqi War veteran with post traumati! c stress disorder who works as a short order cook at Merlottes Bar & Grill where part-faerie Sookie is a waitress. "They always want to know what is going to happen next." Here's a promo for the new season of "True Blood." It returns at 8 p.m. Sunday on cable 300.
