Anna Paquin gives birth to twins

Kiwi actress Anna Paquin has given birth to twins.

Representatives for Paquin, 30, and her husband Stephen Moyer, 42, confirmed to Hollywood media that the couple's first children "recently welcomed their twins into the world".

"The babies were born a few weeks early, but are in good health and both mom and dad are overjoyed," a rep told E! News.

The couple, who met on the set of TV show True Blood, married in August 2010.

They have just finished filming the fifth season of the show.

Paquin won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 1994, aged 11, for her role in Jane Campion's film The Piano.

Paquin's older sister, Katya, is the partner of New Zealand's Green Party co-leader Russel Norman.
